If computer is not on, look for the light on the computer (hard drive, the box part) and on the monitor (the TV screen). If either is not lit, turn turn it on (push the button). If both are lit, wiggle the mouse. Wait. The screen should come on.
When the computer is on, look for the Word icon (a big blue W). Click it once. Wait 15 seconds. If nothing happens, click it twice. Microsoft Word will open up.
Create a Document to Record Today's Activities
Click here for an already-formatted version. Or, in a new page (File > New > Page), reproduce the document.
- On the top bar, View > Header & Footer.
- Click in the header. Your insertion point (looks like an I) should appear in the box.
- Click the center allignment button. The insertion point should appear in the middle of the box.
- Type in your document's name: Level1Project3CampusLastNameFirstInitial.
- Ex: Level1Project3HighSchoolMcDonaldA
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- Click in the footer box.
- Click the center allignment button. The insertion point should appear in the middle of the box.
- Type in today's date
Now make your table.
- Click or double-click in the main part of the page (the part between the header & footer boxes.
- Click on the table icon and drag down to a 6 X 9 table.
- Or, from the top menu, choose Table > Insert Table
- Choose 9 rows and 6 columns and click OK.
- Don't worry about the size of the boxes. They'll expand to fit whatever you put in them (words or pictures (= graphics)).
- Type the appropriate words in the 1st, 4th, and 7th rows. Use the TAB key to move from box to box (cell to cell). The ENTER key will just make your box bigger.
Use the words from the Word Box to fill in your chart.
- Double-click on the word (it is now highlighed)
- Cut or Copy the word
- Click in the chosen box of your table
- Paste the word into the box

Clicks are ALWAYS left-button clicks unless it says "right-click."
- You can click once, double-click to highlight a word, or triple-click to highlight an entire paragraph.
- Macs do NOT have right-click mouses. With a Mac, you click & hold, wait 2-3 seconds, and move the mouse slightly. The menu screen should pop up.
