How to Make a Cord Rosary

lPlease read all instructions carefully.
-Materials: 56” of #9 bonded cord.
lThe two tools: pliers and scissors
lClear finger nail polish to seal the cord so it doesn't fray.
l59 beads, 1 center piece and 1 Crucifix.
lContainer to keep parts in.
lCord, center piece, Crucifix and beads are available from Our Lady's Rosary Makers.

lShown is a completed Mission Rosary. Remember, neatness counts, knots must be tight and spacing must correct to allow the beads to move. Practice makes perfect! Once learned, it will take you about 12 minutes to make a Rosary.

lGood luck and before starting, say the prayer on the handle of the tool.

lThis shows the wrapping tool to start a Rosary. The length of starting cord is the same length as the Spacer Tool (about 6”). The short cord is passed through one of the top holes and wrapped around itself to form an X as shown. It is wrapped around 4 more times back toward the thumb.

lAfter the the five turns are complete and each turn is next to each other, the knot is removed from the tool. Carefully work the knot with your thumb and forefinger to make it smaller, but not snug. It is then placed in the Spacer Tool as shown. Use pliers only on the short cord to tighten the knot.

l

After cutting the short cord to about 1/4” and burning to seal, place 10 beads on the long cord and tie a knot as before with 5 turns. Pull it off the tool as before and with thumb and forefinger work the knot smaller and closer to the last bead. Insert it into the Spacer Tool and tighten making sure it is tight. Do not use pliers as it will damage the cord.

lPlace an our Father bead on the remaining cord and make the knot against the bead. Place the three Hail Mary's on the cord and make the knot, placing it in the tool as before and tighten.

lPlace an our Father bead, but do not put a knot. Put on a Crucifix, placing the Crucifix against the front block and the knot between the two blocks with the our Father folded as shown. Use the pliers to tighten. This knot and the three center piece knots must be tight to prevent slippage.
