Lifeline

Lifeline was established in 1977 to provide social services to women distressed by pregnancy and to provide viable alternatives to abortion for women intending to keep their babies. Lifeline works with clients throughout their pregnancies and up to six months after the birth of their babies. A professionally trained caseworker, experienced in dealing with the emotional, financial and family crises associated with an unplanned pregnancy, establishes a one-to-one working relationship with each client. Two caseworkers are bilingual. Family members are included whenever possible.

In addition to helping clients with emotional and material needs, Lifeline also addresses frequently contributing problems such as family dysfunction, alcoholism, drug abuse, and sexual and spousal abuse. About half of Lifeline clients are single, about a third are married, and the rest are divorced or separated.
